Waitangi ki Taumanuka
Come to the Waitangi Day commemorations at Taumanuka (aka the old Health Camp), at Ōtaki Beach. Run by Ngā Hapū o Ōtaki in partnership with the Kāpiti Coast District Council, it’ll be a day full of interesting activities for all the whānau! Ōtaki Museum closed for Waitangi Day
The museum will be closed on Waitangi Day, Friday 6 th February. We’re open on Thursday 5 th and Saturday 7 th for our usual hours: 10 am – 2 pm. The Waitangi copy of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. https://nzhistory.govt.nz/media/interactive/waitangi-treaty-copy

Successful Kāpiti Heritage Clue Hunt
We were part of the very successful Kāpiti Heritage Clue Hunt again this year. We had 155 visitors over three days, with people coming from all over Kāpiti and some from further afield. As usual the pianola was a hit with children and adults. Our volunteers did a great job welcoming visitors and sharing some of our Ōtaki stories. A visitor enjoying the pianola

New online exhibits on our website!
Summer visitors at the Ōtaki Beach skating rink, 1950s Online exhibits are a new feature of our website, with photos from our collection showing aspects of the rich history of Ōtaki. They include life at the beach, sport, market gardening, health facilities and hotels. You can also scroll through these at the museum too, and we plan to add more exhibits over time. https://www.otakiheritage.org.nz/online-exhibits
