New Exhibition
We’re launching a new exhibition about the early development of Ōtaki town: Te Tāone o Ōtaki: 1920 – 1989 / Ōtaki Town: 1920 – 1989. It includes themes such as changes in land use, community organisations, public amenities such as banks, library, theatre and municipal hall, iwi revitalisation, impacts of war, schools, churches, hospitals. Successful Kāpiti Heritage Clue Hunt
We were part of the very successful Kāpiti Heritage Clue Hunt again this year. We had 155 visitors over three days, with people coming from all over Kāpiti and some from further afield. As usual the pianola was a hit with children and adults. Our volunteers did a great job welcoming visitors and sharing some of our Ōtaki stories. A visitor enjoying the pianola

New online exhibits on our website!
Summer visitors at the Ōtaki Beach skating rink, 1950s Online exhibits are a new feature of our website, with photos from our collection showing aspects of the rich history of Ōtaki. They include life at the beach, sport, market gardening, health facilities and hotels.
