The pianola, donated to the museum four years ago by the Banks family, has now been restored to full use, thanks to a generous donation by the Philipp Family Foundation. The pianola was originally used to accompany silent movies in the early Bright's Theatre, located where the Civic Theatre now stands. When 'talkies' came in, the pianola was no longer needed and it ended up in the home of Byron Brown and his wife Susannah (nee Bright). Some years later it was sold to the Banks family. Now it's back in its home town, fully functional and able to be used as an ordinary piano or as a player piano.
We encourage visitors to come and have a play on it.
